Wyspa Spichrzów w Elblągu

Wyspa Spichrzów to dzielnica Elbląga położona na lewym brzegu rzeki Elbląg, otoczona z trzech stron fosą miejską. Historia wyspy sięga końca XIV wieku, kiedy to zaczęły powstawać pierwsze spichlerze, a teren został połączony z miastem za pomocą dwóch mostów. W 1364 roku zbudowano tu także pierwszy żuraw portowy, który był jedynym takim obiektem aż do XVIII wieku.

Spichlerze, zbudowane głównie z drewna i kryte trzciną, często ulegały zniszczeniom w wyniku pożarów oraz w trakcie wojen, w tym konfliktów z Gdańskiem i Zakonem Krzyżackim. Poza magazynami zbożowymi na wyspie znajdowała się giełda kupiecka z izbą korcową, gdzie przechowywano wzory miar i prowadzono rejestry handlowe. Dziś niewiele z dawnych budowli przetrwało, jednak w przyszłości planowane są inwestycje mające na celu przywrócenie temu miejscu dawnego charakteru.
